West Point’s Daniels receives U.S. Army All-American jersey

By DANNY P. SMITH

It was quite a busy last few days for West Point High School running back Kehnan Daniels.

After the Green Wave won the Class 5A State Championship on November 30, Daniels was in Jackson earlier this week receiving his Class 5A Mr. Football Award and on Wednesday was presented his U.S. Army All-American jersey.

Signing Day is also coming up soon for Daniels.

West Point head football coach Chris Chambless said if anyone can handle such a situation, it's Daniels.

“He's taking it all in stride just like the man he is,” Chambless said. “He's going to be successful whatever he does and wherever he goes.”

Daniels admits it being a whirlwind this week but gives credit to God for all of the honors sent his way.

“It's because of God,” Daniels said. “I set all my goals before the beginning of the year and I really prepared on all those goals. I feel like it's all glory to Him. He just lined everything up.”

Daniels finished the season with 260 carries for 2,484 yards and 26 touchdowns. The Florida commit rushed for an average of 9.6 yards per carry and 191.1 yards per game.

He will be headed to San Antonio, Texas, to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 6, 2024.

“It's a real honor,” Daniels said. “Last year, I went down there and competed for a spot to actually play in the game. On my first day down there, it really felt like I had a chance to be one of the guys selected to play in the game. When I did get selected, it felt real good and it was a big honor.”
