BULLDOG BITS

Men’s Golf

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bulldogs wrapped up day two of the NCAA New Haven Regional and will go into the final round in 10th place. Continuing to lead for State on the leaderboard, Ruan Pretorius shot 1-over for the day with three birdies added on.

Overall, Pretorius is 2-under and sits tied for 16th. As a team, the Bulldogs struggled at the Yale Golf Course, concluding the second-day events with a score of 10-over par.

“Today was obviously a difficult day,” MSU head coach Dusty Smith said. “We never had five guys in the round and that makes things tough. I'm really proud of how Hunter (Logan) and Ruan hung tough today. It's easy to get deflated, and they chose to never give in.

“We have a team of high-character men who have proven a lot this year. I expect it to come out with excitement and the right level of focus. It's a privilege to wear the M-State logo on your chest any time you tee it up, so I expect us to honor that privilege.”

Hunter Logan battled back from a triple-bogey on hole 18, going bogey-free on the front nine and tacking on three birdies, two of them being back-to-back on holes two and three to shoot even par on the day. Logan sits at 1-under overall and is tied for 24th going into round three.

Harrison Davis played overall steady golf going even par on 13 holes and adding a birdie on hole 13. Pedro Cruz Silva rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs at 6-over par for the day.

MSU will tee off Wednesday morning from hole 10 with Ford Clegg leading off at 7:55 a.m. for the final round of the NCAA New Haven Regional.
